High levels may result in scaling throughout your pool filter system and in extreme cases water may appear cloudy. Swimmers will experience irritation, generally sore eyes. Calcium levels range from 200–400 ppm. What causes unbalanced water? Water balance can be affected by sunlight, heavy rain, increased usage or the addition of water from the tap. Does pool and spa water have to be chemically balanced? Unbalanced water can result in a number of issues including itchy skin, sore eyes, it can even shorten the lifespan of your bathers, pool and associated equipment.
